It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in downtown Phoenix! The much anticipated CitySkate ice rink opens this weekend at the grand opening celebration and tree lighting ceremony on November 25. Every year, the Valley’s largest real outdoor ice rink takes over Central Ave at CityScape Phoenix for seven weeks, bringing over 200,000 skaters to revel in the holiday cheer.

CityScape truly transforms into a holiday dreamland where you can’t help but feel the joy, wonderment and merriment of the season. Even if you don’t choose to skate, visiting CityScape during the season provides you with the perfect spot to embrace the holidays. The sight alone of the beautiful decorations and 36-foot holiday tree makes you feel like you’ve entered the North Pole- well, a North Pole with skyscrapers and Arizona sunsets. CityScape Phoenix works for months planning this extended holiday extravaganza and the final result is joy for all those involved and for the downtown community itself.

CitySkate is perfect for a night of skating, picture-taking and hot cocoa drinking. CityScape is decorated with thousands of twinkling lights, features a nightly snowfall at 7, 8, and 9 p.m., and even hosts Santa visits every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Throughout the season, there will also be events including Arizona Coyotes Skate Clinics and City Lights Movie Nights featuring Home Alone II and Elf.

This year features all new experiential holiday décor like massive lighted presents you can walk through, so grab your selfie stick and get ready for the ultimate holiday pictures. Artlink will also have an extensive art installation featuring works from local artists. After a few laps around the rink, grab a cup of hot cocoa from the Hot Chocolate Bar at Patriots Park that will be operated by various Arizona nonprofits as a fundraising effort. With all these new initiatives, CitySkate combines the spirit of downtown with the spirit of the holiday season for a great celebration for family and friends.
